My Motto

“What’s a motto?”

“Nothing…what’s a motto wit you?”

Hee-hee-hee. ( = I love to quote movies. Their writers have such a way of saying what I’m thinking- only better. My oldest daughter is in middle school and had to do a PowerPoint presentation about herself recently. One of the slides had to be her motto. In helping her to decide what to write it caused me to think about my own motto.

If I had to sum up my life in one susinct statement, what would I say? Obviously, it would have to be something about God since I AM a preacher’s wife. I have “The joy of the LORD is my strength.” as the signature on the end of my e-mails. Then again, being a PW, I have to work really hard to let people know that I’m not a spiritual super-woman…just a regular person called to do God’s bidding in a public way. So, I found a note pad at the mall which I feel really sums up what I’m feeling at this point in my life- my motto, so to speak.

Both of us can't look good at the same time- it's either me or the house

So what do you think? What would you say is your unofficial motto?

I'm a pastor's wife with two growing daughters striving every day to be the best ME that God created me to be! I'm passionate about communicating the amazing truth of God's Word in new and creative ways. I am creative and messy, outwardly fun-loving but secretly shy; sparkly, frizzy, joyful, and casual. I hate mustard, roaches, doing laundry and monkey movies. I love music, chocolate, flowers, and the beach. This blog is about my life and thoughts as a "not so perfect" pastor's wife. Living, learning, and loving to lead in the Lord. (See? I have proven that I'm married to a pastor by my alliteration abilities!) ( =

  1. Hi Stephanie! I am just now getting around to reading your blog. Sorry it has taken me so long. Thanks for sending me an invite on Fb! I’ve enjoyed your posts and thinking through some of your thoughtful questions. I like your motto! I have no idea what my unofficial motto would be. The first thing that came to mind is “Take it or Leave it” but I don’t know how much I like that. Anyway, you’ve got a fantastic blog! Blessings!

    1. Thanks Dominique! It sure is fun keeping up with everyone via FB and blogs. I like reading about your family, and I still smile to think that someone you knew from ministry in FL knows me from our kids’ school in KY. Weird. ( =
I like “Take it or leave it.” It’s perfect for someone in ministry. ( = I need to be more like that when it comes to people’s expectations of me or my family. Thanks for sharing!
